The Deloitte Sphere

Singapore's First Outdoor LED Display Sphere at The Kallang

Engineering a landmark

Designing and Building Singapore's First Outdoor LED Display Sphere

On 3 August 2026, Deloitte Singapore and The Kallang Group unveiled a new landmark: a 4-metre diameter outdoor LED sphere standing at Exit A of Stadium MRT, steps from Kallang Wave Mall and OCBC Square. The unveiling marked a five-year partnership naming Deloitte as The Kallang Group's first official digital partner, following the earlier launch of The Kallang App and a refreshed website.

Kin was engaged to design and build that sphere.

The brief

The objectives of the project: to promote the new Deloitte–Kallang partnership, build awareness of Deloitte's brand, and give the precinct a landmark icon the public would recognise on sight. The site itself set the bar — an open, unrestricted public area at one of the highest-footfall corners of The Kallang, where crowds already gather for sporting events, concerts and festivals.

The design challenge

A 4-metre diameter floor-mounted LED sphere in an outdoor environment is a different engineering problem than an indoor display of the same size. Three requirements shaped the design:

  • Brightness and durability. The display needed to stay legible in Singapore's high ambient daylight, not just at night, which ruled out indoor-grade panels and pushed the spec toward outdoor-rated LED with higher nit output and weatherproofing.
  • Thermal management. A sealed sphere full of LED modules generates heat that has nowhere to go unless ventilation is engineered in from the start. Kin built an active ventilation system into the structure to keep the display operating reliably outdoors.
  • A single cohesive form. The client's ask was for a “cohesive and aesthetically pleasing design” — meaning the ventilation, wiring, structural supports and other operational services all had to disappear into the sphere's form rather than sit visibly alongside it.

Building around the calendar, not against it

The harder constraint wasn't engineering — it was time and access. The build window ran into National Day Parade rehearsals and event activity at The Kallang, which meant recurring stretches where the site simply wasn't available.

Kin's response was to compress the working day rather than the schedule: installation ran on a 24-hour basis to recover the hours lost to access restrictions. To keep that pace through Singapore's rain, the team erected a temporary tentage structure over the site, turning an open-air build into one that could continue regardless of weather.

The project moved through four stages — authority pre-consultation, design development, authority submission and approval, and implementation and commissioning — working alongside the engineering services partners.

The result

The sphere was completed and commissioned in time for the 3 August 2026 launch event, unveiled by The Kallang Group CEO Quek Swee Kuan and Deloitte Southeast Asia CEO Eugene Ho. It's now described as the largest outdoor LED sphere in Singapore, sited exactly where the client wanted it: a landmark the public passes by design, not by chance.
